The
Challenger (basic unit) is a 120 Watt RMS (150 Watt peak) portable PA system
with a built in rechargeable battery. It is lightweight and has a good looking
aluminium extrusion chassis, built in trolley, handle and wheels for easy
transportation, voice priority, audio link, smart charge circuit, 3-way
speaker system etc.
The Challenger 1000 series is a muiti-function, multi-purpose, all-in-one
compact and powerful portable sound system. It comes as a basic unit as
shown here (with a hand-held corded microphone only) but various optional
extras can be added to it such as a CD player Digital Recorder Player /
additional wireless microphones (Hand-held, Lapel, Headworn).
The speaker system consists of a 10" full range speaker with a high frequency
tweeter.
This unit is powered by a switch mode 90-260V AC power supply and two heavy
duty, maintenance-free lead-acid rechargeble batteries. The whole system
can be operated on either AC or on the in-built batteries.
The Challenger advertised here is sold as a single unit with a hand-held
corded microphone and carry case/cover only (The illustration above is only
to show the front and back of the single unit and is an example of a unit
with all the extra's installed). There are many options available for the

The Challenger can work as a single unit or be expanded to a large network
of amplified speakers for crowds of up to 5000 or more using wireless repeaters.
Most commonly, its used as eithger a single unit or as a stereo pair. The
second speaker can be purchased as either a pasive speaker (which is driven
soley by the main unit - i.e. it has no amplifier built in itself) or as
a second active speaker which has its own amplifier built in. The Passive
option will be cheaper and the active option will be louder.

Audio Link:
Audio link allows the inter-connection of the Challenger 1000 unit (always
in MASTER mode) with up to 20 SLAVE units to set up a large network of amplified
speakers. To do this, the MASTER unit (which contains all the standard audio
sources such as wireless mic, wired mic, CD, etc) is connected to the SLAVE
unit via the ACTIVE OUT connector. The ACTIVE OUT of the SLAVE is then connected
to the ACTIVE IN of the next SLAVE and so on if more SLAVE units are required.
